Question: Why did Lancelot betray King Arthur?

Was Lancelot a traitor?

Lancelot. Lancelot is accused of treason for both his affair with Guinevere and for the homicide of his fellow knights during his escape from the court. When Agravain and Mordred first raise the charge of adultery against Lancelot, Arthur asks for proof of his guilt before he can take action.
